FlashSystem 7000 is the mid-range tier between the entry 5000 family and the flagship 9000 family. Like the 5000, it works as a search-demand cluster as much as a single model decision: buyers arrive asking about the current 7600, an installed 7300, or an older 7200, and the right answer depends heavily on which one they actually have.

Where it fits for IBM i and Power
The 7000 family is the usual landing spot for AS400 and IBM i shops that have outgrown internal DASD and want external SAN storage with room to consolidate other workloads onto the same array. Sizing should be driven by usable capacity and disk busy percentage, not raw or marketing-effective capacity.
Before quoting a 7000-family answer, pin down the exact family member. A 7200 replacement, a 7300 refresh, and a net-new 7600 are three different projects with different pricing and different migration effort.
